And Just Like That, It’s November

Grandchildren playing in Fall Leaves

How fast the time passes. It seems to me it was just summer, and now Halloween is over and we are headed toward Thanksgiving and Christmas.

November has always been such a special month for me. Besides the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the holidays, you have the beautiful fall color that appears almost overnight on your trees.

Reason #1 for planting a tree happened this week while playing with the grand kids: jumping in piles of fallen leaves! Yes, I took too many photos and yes, I jumped into the piles with the kids. My husband and father-in-law were out there raking them up as fast as my grandchildren were jumping in them.

When I think about what I’m thankful for, I have to say that close to the top of the list are these maple trees my in-laws planted so many years ago. You know the saying–the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is today! No truer words were ever said!

So go find a pile of leaves to jump in! Go for a hike in the woods, sit still and watch the squirrels and birds outside your windows. Or just watch the leaves falling from the trees as they do each and every year at this time. Create memories and try to slow down the passage of time. Let’s all just go out and have fun and play.

This blog post was something I wrote and shared on November 1, 2017! I still feel the same. ~ Stephanie
